Today I am thankful… We have started our veggie gardens!
Today we celebrate one (1) year that my husband and I took our first steps into our home. A first home means a lot to most couples; commitment, settling down, starting a family… Security. It means FUTURE.
For Anthony and I it had additional meaning; our first home was brought under a cloud of uncertainty…. That cloud was terminal melanoma. It still is. I had a few prerequisites that I had in my mind…”Could this be my forever home?” I often asked myself when we started our search. I wanted to ensure that my new husband had financial security for his future if something went wrong with my health. We both knew that if I was facing my last days that we didn’t want to do it in someone else’s home, with no space to create, no space to dream, no space that we could make our OWN. We wanted new memories.
Our home was all about, purpose, hope and an asset for an unknown future.
Anthony and I have fallen in love with our little home, it’s pretty damn wonderful!!!
One of the things that makes me happiest is seeing my husband thrive! He LOVES everything about being a ‘man about the house’. I often find him standing in quiet contemplation concocting up new plans or ideas for the house or garden. It’s in those moments I know that a trip to Bunnings is usually coming!
So today I am 100% thankful that a long-term dream is finally coming to life and that we are starting our very own organic veggie garden! Hurrah!!!!! The soil has been laid; the beautiful rain today is a welcome friend, and by next week we will be able to start planting!
Having a veggie garden was something I was so spoilt in having when I was a child living on acreage. My father (whose birthday it is today… Happy birthday Dad!), cleared an entire horse training paddock and created the best veggie garden I remember! Scarecrow and all! Today he has created an incredible garden with raised beds! We have big gumboots to fill!
I can’t wait to learn all I can about gardening and I’d love all your beautiful green thumb veggie tips! Send them our way!
What are you thankful for today beautiful Naked?
With love, light and bundles of gratitude xx
