Today for Thankful Thursdays, I am thankful for… my thankfuls.
As we approach the close of another year, I am truly grateful for all the moments of thanks that I have participated (and acknowledged) in the year of 2016. This year I reached 100 Thankful Thursdays (read post here) and the number keeps growing with my weekly posts.
Taking a moment to reflect on what you are grateful for doesn’t take long and everyone does it differently. There are no rules! I love when I hear stories of people who keep a jar and write out their moments of gratitude, only to re-read the notes when the year closes. How refreshing to celebrate all the little moments!
Many others sit down of an evening as the family join together for dinner and each participate in sharing out aloud what they are grateful for on that day. Much like the tradition of “Grace” when a family member shares a moment to thank and/or bless the food they have received that day. I am not a religious person by any measure, but I have always respected this simple and beautiful tradition when I am a guest.
When I journal, I like to take a brief moment to write out little lists of the things that I am thankful for on that day. For me they are personal, much like my Thankful Thursdays, they matter to me and they exist due to particular moments and experiences that I have been involved in.
What is it, and how does it make you feel?
As Christmas approaches this weekend, and the 2016 draws to a close I am thankful for all the moments of gratitude that I have acknowledged publicly, or privately. The biggest thing that I am personally thankful for is a year of good health! Besides the flares up in my lymphoedema, my health has remained a stable ‘no evidence of disease’; something that I am humbly grateful for and which I am acutely aware that not everyone in my position (with advanced melanoma) is afforded.
I will do my annual write-up following Christmas on ‘The Year that Was’, with this Thankful Thursday being my last for the year and a celebration of all the thanks I have experienced and shared (see the Flipogram I created below).
In 2017 I would really love to create a more interactive gratitude experience and I would love for you to be involved.
For now, please share with me what you are thankful for on this beautiful Thankful Thursday!
With love, light and bundles of gratitude xx
