This Thankful Thursday there is much to be grateful for but today i am thankful for… birth! Yesterday the 4th of February was World Cancer Day, it also marked the one year “cancerversary” for me being diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma… so you could say 4 February is a bit of a big deal! So far I have defied the 12 month survival rate that goes hand-in-hand with a diagnosis of my degree. A big F-YEAH moment right there!
But yesterday brought a turn of events where happiness lives rather than shadows of despair and uncertainty. 4 February is now a very joyous day for my family! It is a day of celebration, beauty, connections and bonds! 4 February is the day that I was able to share a very personal day with my sister and my bro-in-law! It was the day that we all experienced the blessing of birth for the first time and we all got to meet the new little shining star in our lives! The birth of my baby nephew is something that I will forever treasure and see as one of life’s greatest gifts. A gift that I was able to be involved in such a personal way between parents, where already strong bonds are now even stronger. AND a gift where I was able to experience the joy of birth first-hand, even if it was not my own. The birth process, although massively hard is truly a beautiful passage into life! It is the new chapter that is penned for everyone involved. The muse who enters our lives. Birth is a magical bond of devotion and love. Even if I may never experience birth of my own, I am truly honoured and blessed to have witnessed the birth of the little man that will giggle, burp, fart, poop and cause everyone more grey hairs! But it will be these moments that we will cherish for all our lives.
Birth is the miracle of life and new beginnings.
Welcome to the world little man!
You will be loved.
