Thankful Thursdays

I am thankful for… sunflowers!

Sunflowers make me happy! Pretty simple right? But they do!!!! Who doesn’t like their pretty, bright, ‘look at me’ vibrancy!

Recently my husband Ant and I took a trip out to Allora, the “Home of Sunflowers” here is South-East Queensland! I was sooooooo excited about doing the trip to see the sunflowers and I even planned it for Valentines Day. Yep, a tiny bit romantic hey! But the sunflowers didn’t come to the ball game on this day! It was the end of the season and the one field that we saw was wilted. Even in this natural end-of-season state there were many cars that had pulled to the side of the road to take a look, and possibly a wander through the fields. We however, couldn’t get a place to stop off the busy road. I was pretty disappointed on this day. But all was not lost and we still had a great picnic by a lake! A road trip is still a road trip and sunflowers would just have to wait until another day!

Many of you know that sunflowers were also part of our wedding; with their inclusion a beautiful element was added to our natural botanical and organic styling. They made our day, I like to think,  ‘happy’!

On the weekend Ant brought me a gorgeous bunch when he ducked to the shops. I was experiencing a two-day migraine and really couldn’t take their beauty in, but each morning when I get up I walk out to our living room and there they up, waking up with the sunshine and instantly they fill me with happiness!!!

I wish sunflowers were here all year round, but it makes me appreciate them more because they are not! For now I’ll enjoy them in their glory while I still can!
