Today for Thankful Thursdays, I am thankful that… I can drive!
Often we forget when something is second nature just how important it is in your day-to-day life. Do you agree? For me, getting my license didn’t come easy all those years ago, and after many hours spent in driving lessons my nerves were awarded with the win of a driving license and the quick succession of my first car and green machine at the time, “Kermie the Ford Festiva”. I often reflect on how grateful I am that I can drive, and that I have the luxury to do so.
Not only is it for the obvious reasons that I can get from A to B, but for many reasons such as these:
- I retain independence to be able to go where I want, when I want and if I want!
- Attending appointments is made easier by not having to rely on another person or transport means.
- I am able to maintain ‘normality’ in life.
- I can go to meetings, appointments, courses, meet friends, do our shopping and explore our beautiful city of Brisbane.
- That I can dance and sing in the car and only be judged by people zooming by! Beep Beep!
- That I can go on adventures with my family and create new memories daily.
For many the simple act of driving is a luxury that can sometimes be taken away due to health circumstances or the like.
As I was driving back from appointments on the Gold Coast this afternoon, I reflected on how lucky and grateful I am that I am presently in a state of health that I can be in charge of where the road leads me.
I know the car can sometimes be a dangerous place when you are driving for others lack of road awareness, and yes I know it’s not in alignment with our environment and our carbon consciousness, but in all honesty I have to admit that my car is… my sanctuary!
What are thankful for today beautiful Naked?
With love, light and bundles of gratitude xx
