Minus the Vino? I know – sacrilege, there are times I want to cave I can tell you!
This week I dragged my friend Renee with me to a Visions + Vino evening hosted by Jamie Louise from the fabulous raw food café, Orawgi. It was a gathering of equally fun spirited souls who were eager to get their 2014 ideas and aspirations nutted out, visually.
The evening commenced with a lovely meditation session lead by Fabienne Costa of Yourcorelight at the marvellous Turf Studios at Woolloongabba. Nakeds, if you haven’t had the chance to get there, it is a fabulous setting for your next yoga experience! Try it! Jamie Louise provided us with the stationery supplies and mountains of beautifully laid out magazines to set us on a path of… visioning. We were spoilt with raw treats of delicious dips, raw crackers and a gingerbread raw cake (the most marvellous dessert I have indulged in recently! I’m still drooling!). Those who wanted the inspiration could partake in their byo’d wine for the evening, while organic sodas and herbal teas were on offer to those (like me) that didn’t.
When you are presented with a blank canvas, you are surprised; firstly by its white starkness and then secondly by, you guessed it, the possibilities. I didn’t realise how many things I wanted to focus on in 2014 and what I envisage in my year, and essentially my life ahead. For me, the thought of planning for the future comes with a big dark looming cloud, and in the cloud is a massive question mark, which takes centre stage. But on this night, there was none of that! I have to say I was so inspired with enthusiasm and energised by the thoughts of what I can focus on making my (present) life all about me; about self-love and the things that go part in parcel with that adventure.
It’s very rare when we can take a moment out of our busy lives and set aside some time just to be with our own thoughts. For me, this was the win and the realisation that I need to indulge in this act more often because when you do – your creative juices flow, and the rest of the world and its problems melt away. Indulging in moments of self-awareness, I’ve now realised is essential in my healing.
So what was on my vision board I hear you ask; well take a look and see! My focus was about self-love, recovery, pampering myself, aiming to take more time in doing the things I love and spending more time relaxing and enjoying nature! I love my board! And I love the fact that I can look at it every day and feel the same sense of excitement, ambition and eagerness to take the next steps in this year as I did when I created it at Visions + Vino!
So Nakeds get your creative juices flowing and start vision boarding too! I’d love to hear what’s on your board!
With love, light and gratitude xx
